“That’s what they told me. They saw the report about the shelter needing seventy-two thousand dollars and they have generously offered to match thirty-six thousand in donations in honor of your grandfather.”

The air left Jacob’s lungs, and his eyes grew wide.

“Breathe,” Luka reminded him with a small smile.

He exhaled hard and took a deep breath. His heart thumped against his chest. “That’s an awful lot of money.”

“That’s wonderful, but how do we raise the rest of the funds?” Luka asked.

“Yeah,” Garrett said. “Fundraising isn’t our specialty and we have only a few weeks to get everything done here.”
