“Good stuff,” Nate said. “These guys seem to have it all together—if they really live this way, that is.”
As they drove on, they passed several more signs. There were seven different signs in all before they started to repeat. All carried similar messages highlighting desirable characteristics.
Finally, the road leveled out and they began to see houses on either side. Morgan’s first reaction was one of disappointment. The homes were no different than you would find in any small town or subdivision. Some were trailers or mobile homes. What had he expected, teepees and wigwams?
“Wow,” Nate said. “Not a lot of affluence here.”
Morgan had to agree. Many of the homes were run down and ill-kept while a few had well-manicured lawns and flowerbeds.
It was the middle of the week, yet there seemed to be many people about, sitting on porches or walking at the side of the road. All were dressed in everyday clothes.
