“Barely worth even that.” Will drained the last of his port. “Do you want me to change your dressing before we retire?”

Dearne ran his finger over the rim of his glass and watched its progress for a moment before looking up, meeting Will’s gaze. “Do you want to change my dressing?”

Will’s heart thumped and his body hardened. He had been half hard all evening but with those softly spoken words, with the question shimmering in his eyes, he was aching. Every part of him aching. He coughed a couple of times and tried to think of a way to respond.

Dearne’s next words, however, doused most of the arousal which had him as taut as a bowstring.

“Your accent changes. Did you know that?”

Will scowled and stared at the table.

“It does.” Dearne said laughing. “Sometimes you sound as though you were born and bred in the wilds of Yorkshire, and sometimes you wouldn’t be out of place in the best drawing rooms the ton has to offer.”

“Don’t be ridiculous.”
