Chapter 7

“No way. I love it, just like he does.” She paused. “Is that why you hate your job? You never seem happy when you come in here to get lunch.” Lisa was too smart for her own good.

“Probably. You’d think being in my mid-thirties I would have gotten life right by now. Apparently not.” And why was I telling someone half my age my problems? I finished my sandwich and drank the rest of my water.

“Do you know what you really want to do? What you’re passionate about?”

“It’s been a long time since I’ve thought about it, though lately, I’ve wondered about that a lot.”

Lisa frowned. “Do you at least like working with numbers and stuff?”

“I can take it or leave it. I understand how it all works and it comes easily to me. It just doesn’t do anything for me, though paying off my student loans was a huge motivator to do well.” At least I didn’t have to worry about that anymore.
