Chapter 7

Seth trembled as the man pinned him with those sky blue eyes. “Yeah?” he whispered, his skin tingling.

“Normal is boring. Gray. The world already has enough gray. It needs color.”

“Like eggplant?”

Chris smiled. “Exactly. I love to see someone with so much excitement for life that it tumbles out of them in a rainbow of colors.” He brushed Seth’s bangs from his forehead.

Seth’s eyes fluttered shut at the touch and he bit his lip to keep from moaning.

“Oh, you’re here,” Karlee exclaimed, breaking the moment.

Seth jumped back. Chris dropped his hand and shot him a rueful smile before he turned to Karlee.

“Yep, just got here.”

Karlee’s eyes darted between them and she smirked. “Should I come back?”

“Karlee!” Seth said.

She gave a dismissive wave of her hand. “You guys ready? Mr. Landers texted that he’d be next door in a couple of minutes. Cody can hold down the ship while we go next door.”

“Lead the way,” Chris said with a sweep of his hand.
