“What are you doing?”
“Getting out so I can go for a walk with you!” He turned to look at Chris. “You coming?” he asked with a sly grin.
“Hell, yes!” Chris turned off the vehicle, pushed open his door, and jumped out before meeting Seth by the passenger-side headlight.
Seth took Chris’s hand and twined their fingers. “I think we’ve had enough heavy talking for a first date. Let’s just enjoy the night.”
Chris grinned and squeezed his hand. “Agreed.”
They walked hand-in-hand toward the path that wound around the lake. The almost-full moon reflected on the water, casting a pale glow around them. A light wind blew through the trees, rustling the leaves and breaking the silence.
When Chris stopped, Seth turned. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I just…” Chris pulled his hand from Seth’s, then cupped his cheek. “I’ve been thinking about doing this for days.”
“What?”
“This.”
