“You haven’t talked about him much, and if you don’t want to, that’s fine. But I’m curious.”

“About what?”

“About the man you ended up with.” A smile spread across Vincent’s face. “Instead of me.”

Daniel chuckled. “He’s forty-one. He’s got short brown hair. Slim. He looks a bit like you, actually.”

“Yes, he—” Vincent clamped his lips shut.

“Yes what?” Daniel was looking at him.

“Yes, I imagine he does.”

Daniel furrowed his brow. “You’ve looked him up on Facebook, haven’t you?” His eyes bored into Vincent. “You have. Oh, my God, I can’t believe it.”

“I haven’t,” said Vincent, unable to wipe the guilty smirk from his face. “I really haven’t.”

“I don’t believe you. Swear on your mother’s life.”

“What? No, I’m not doing that.”

“If you didn’t do it, then it shouldn’t be a problem. I reckon you did look him up. Probably after that first day in Holbrook’s.”
