Chapter 29

“At the moment. Glad to be alive. It hasn’t really sunk in that a man I know and trusted was responsible for everything that happened.”

“You knew it had to be someone on the Lane.”

“Mentally? Yeah. Emotionally? I guess deep down I was hoping we were wrong, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Poor Eliot.” I shook my head.

“He’s in shock. That’s for sure. I think, if things had turned out differently and Frank had told everyone he found you dead in the tub, Eliot would have believed it without question.”

“Has he visited Frank,” I asked.

“He tried, but Frank’s not allowed to talk to anyone except the police and his lawyer at this point.” Steve took my hand, staring at the bandages for a moment. “Are you up for telling me what happened?”

“Sure. I guess. I have a question, first. Do you know how he got in? We both know he wasn’t there when I got home.”

“He had a copy of your key. Beside the one he left with Owen. I should have thought of that and had you change your locks.”
