Over dinner—which Brent cooked while Quinn set the table and made coffee—they discussed their options for locating Andrew.

“Unless we get lucky, I’d say they’re slim to none at the moment,” Quinn said.

“It might be time to talk to my uncle.” Brent sighed in resignation.

Brent’s uncle was a DPD detective. He was also not in the least bit happy that Brent and Quinn were married. He didn’t mind that they were gay. He accepted that fact—as well as them living together. “But marriage? It goes against the grain,” he stated firmly when they told him their plans.

“Well, he does have access to sources we don’t,” Quinn pointed out. “What are you going to ask him?”

“To start with, are there any missing persons who might have been hitchhiking when they disappeared?” 3

“Do you have any missing persons on the books who might have been hitchhiking when they disappeared?” Brent asked his uncle, late the next morning.
