After mounting Duchess, Reginald whispered something in her ear and we were instantly galloping down a highway, weaving our way amongst cars and trucks. In one car there was a German Shepherd who saw us and began barking. His owners looked in the direction of his gaze and seeing nothing, told him to shut up. The poor dog had to watch us pass by in silence. I could feel him suppressing his desire to bark and even felt a little sorry for him.
