Chapter 49

Eli fished his cell phone out of his pocket and typed out a reminder to look for a hotel closer to Coyoacán, where Adam stayed. A shame: Josh and Sully would feel safer here. Eli checked the map on his phone. He was near the store. The street wasn’t lit well, but Eli could see the sign for the pawnshop. He’d had the front desk of the hotel call earlier to see if it was open late and had been told they closed at six. A light illuminated part of the street and shone on a white van. Voices drifted from the other side of the van and as he peered around the back of it, an elderly couple struggled to move a box into the vehicle.
