“Inside?” I asked between kisses.
“I can’t.” Two fucking words—and God damn them! “I don’t like it in there.” Angel said more.
“I know. Pretty soon, we’ll go off to college. Maybe I should run away now. Maybe we both can.”
Angel took a step back. He put on his short-sleeved shirt, the one that was the wettest. “I wish.”
“You don’t, though,” I said. “Your family is…normal.”
He smiled. “I wish yours was…for your sake.” Angel picked up the Band-Aids.
“My dad didn’t tell my mom, I don’t think. About us kissing, I mean. He didn’t tell anyone. Hell, maybe he doesn’t even remember…or maybe he does, but he’s pretending he doesn’t. That’s kind of his MO.”
“It’s okay” Angel tried again to stick a Band-Aid on my arm. “My parents know. I told them.”
“You did?”
“Yeah. I told Uncle Dante first, and then…Mama and Papa. They’re cool. It’s all good.”
“Did you tell them you’re gay, or did you tell them you’re in love with me?”
