Chapter 59

“Yes, dear.”

Too soon, we finished our meals and slurped our milkshakes.

“Thanks for the company,” he said, then stood. He left a tip, and I followed him out of the restaurant.

“May I walk you home?” I asked, standing as close to him as I dared without touching.

“Sure. I live about ten blocks from here. I only drive my car when I need to, preferring to take the train to most places.”

“Great to have options. Lead the way.” I gestured ahead of us.

We walked side by side in near silence, though it was comfortable. Tim lived in a loft on the fifth floorof a refurbished building. It seemed spacious and inviting, what I could see behind him as he stood facing me in the open doorway. I stared at his mouth, hoping for a taste.

“One kiss,” he said.
