Chapter 63

It was a balmy seventy degrees, warm enough for me to wear a short-sleeved shirt and jeans. I got to the park and left the car in the lot. Tim had said to meet him by the big oak next to the koi pond on the east side. When I arrived there, I spied him on a blanket beneath the huge tree.

He was beautiful in white jeans and a pale yellow polo shirt. His smile was welcoming as I sat down beside him.

“Hi, gorgeous.” He leaned in to give me a quick peck on the cheek.

“Hi, yourself. You look wonderful, as always,” I said, and meant it.

“Thank you, you’re not so bad yourself.” He opened the basket and took out an assortment of meats, cheeses, crackers, and fruit that lay before us. He poured white wine from the bottle that was in a bucket of ice nearby.

“This is wonderful,” I said, after filling a paper plate with a bit of everything, and taking the plastic stemware he handed to me.
