“Morning, Zachary,” the guy with the eggs greeted me.
“Ben,” I replied. “Two dozen?”
“Sure.” He gave me the cartons, and I handed over the cash.
“Appreciate it. I guess this is it until spring, huh?” I asked as I placed the eggs carefully in one bag.
“Yup. It was a pleasure doing business with you.”
I smiled and moved on to other vendors.
By the time I was done, my bags were full. I made my way back home and put away my purchases. My place didn’t take long to clean, and once done, I tried to decide what to do next.
Watching television wasn’t appealing to me right then, and I wasn’t much of a reader. I decided to head into the shop. It was closed on Sundays, but I could work on inventory and prepare the place for therun on costumes that would start tomorrow since it was Halloween week.
Decision made, I drove into town and parked behind the store. I unlocked the back door and headed to the front of the building to get started.
