Elias was in no hurry. He drank some of his coffee before he began. “Remember when I told you about switching from painting and drawing to working with a camera?”

I nodded.

“So, it was my senior year in college. My roommate, Jaime, was also my boyfriend at the time. We’d planned to visit his family in Spain and spend a few months backpacking in Europe. In fact, he was my fiancé. I’d proposed to him earlier that year. He was an artist, too, and had the same classes I did. Wehad everything in common. It was the perfect relationship.
