Chapter 29

They sat in silence for a few moments, drinking while they listened to the music.

“You’re awfully quiet,” Derek eventually said.

“So are you,” Brad countered.

“True.” Derek dropped his gaze, making circles on the tabletop with his sweating glass.

“So what’s going through that interesting mind of yours?”

“Interesting?” Derek smiled a bit. “Nothing spectacular, that’s for sure. I was just thinking about tonight.”

“Good or bad? Are you regretting it? Especially…the end.”

“Well, it hasn’t ended, yet. And so far…not at all.” Derek continued playing with his glass. “I was…trying to figure out something.”

“Want to talk about it? Maybe I can help.”

“Okay.” Derek paused then blurted out, “How did you know you liked men instead of women?”
