Getting down the stairs with his cane was tricky. Since it was easier to use the stair railings to leverage himself along, he ended up hooking the handle over one railing and let it slide down. The brackets at the bottom that held the railing to the wall stopped it from falling away from the steps. When he made it to the bottom he grabbed his cane and made his way to the kitchen.
