Chapter 33

Kenji contacted the general contractor and asked for a meeting. Ironically, the same man who threatenedLew came out again. He looked like a former football player. He was in his late thirties but huge and muscular with a thick mustache.

His first words were, “Look, we’re busy and have no time for small town issues. Try to sue the insurance company for the closed company. That’s all I can tell you.”

“No, that’s not acceptable. Your company is the general contractor, and you are responsible, legally and morally. There’s no problem hiring a lawyer to sue your company, but that’s not the proper way. We’re all Americans. Let’s help each other. Your company built these units. You are legally responsible.” He used his best smile and patted the man’s arm.
