“According to the realtor, there was a buyer three weeks after it went on the market. Of course,” Mattie said, tapping her lip, “it could have been one of Geoffrey’s minions, if he was smart enough toknow about short sale contracts. That would tie the house up, and if he stayed well undercover he might be there.”

“Or well underground—literally,” Felan added. “We need to ask Camilla if that’s a possibility.”

Tonio nodded. “Which means a quick trip to Lex’s to talk to her, if you don’t mind, Felan.”

“I’ll go,” Nina said. “I’ve seen the house, way back when, so I’ll know what she’s talking about, if there is anything more there than meets the eye.”

“Do it,” Tonio told them, and seconds later Nina and Felan were gone.

“Did she do that on purpose?” Reni asked, grinning.

Tonio shrugged. “Knowing my sister, anything’s possible, even changing her mind about Felan. At least somewhat.”

“So she is sort of part of our team?” Dirk asked.
