“If everyone is finished eating,” Lex said diplomatically.
Those who weren’t, got the message. Soon the team was gathered in Lex’s workroom.
Lex’s gaze went to each member, as if speculating how best to use them. Then he said, “I suggest a two-pronged attack. We need to get into his caverns. Despite what I was thinking last evening, I believe it would be better if we drew him away from them, first. We want to free whatever prisoners he has there and eliminate the blood slaves. We can’t allow him use them in his fight with us.”
“We can’t save them, too?” Dirk asked in dismay.
“I’m afraid not,” Lex replied. “To all intents and purposes they are living-dead. Creatures he controls. If he’s ordered them to kill any stranger who enters the caverns, they will, no matter what.”
