Chapter 4

The night air had turned cold. The wind whistled around the corners of the buildings. Jeremy zipped up his coat and rubbed his arms against the chill as he walked up the stairs. He sat on the top step to keep himself hidden. He leaned forward and around the banister and looked through the large window that faced the small living area. The two men sat on the edge of Alan’s bed. Alan kissed Dylan. Jeremy noticed the small opening in the window; he scooted closer so he could hear their conversation.

“That was nice,” Dylan said as the kiss broke.

“Dylan, listen, I need to tell you something before things go any further.”

“What’s wrong? You said at the restaurant you wanted to spend the night with me?”

“I do, just not like this. You need to know who I am.”

“What do you mean?”

“Maybe it’s better if I show you.” Alan stood and pulled his black turtleneck over his head. He tossed the shirt to the floor and smiled as Dylan’s eyes grew in recognition.
