“Hell, no,” he admits. “My parents have money. I don’t. I can’t say I’m rich, but the cattle ranchdoes fine. Fox and I work our asses off. Everything we have is earned. Nothing is given to us.”
“What happens on a cattle ranch?” I sound oblivious, out of tune regarding the topic.
“Fox and I raise different types of cattle. We’ve got milking cows and beef cows. We sell them to large companies to help feed the world. Rider Cattle isn’t the most profitable company in Oklahoma, but we pull our weight.”
He tells me about his employees, most of which are gay men from various reaches of the States.
