“You’ve lost some color in your face,” he says. “I get that. It was quite the shock for me, too. I didn’t know he had three other boyfriends until yesterday. The guy’s a total asshole. I’m glad it’sover.”
“He is an asshole,” I whisper and watch Ian walk away.
Eventually, he climbs into a BMW that’s parked in front of my house and drives away. I stand at the screen door and stare down at Kasey’s box of boyfriend things. I don’t want to bring the box inside and go through them. No way. I have to get on with my life and move forward.
“Tomorrow’s garbage day. I’ll take the box to the curb in the morning.”
This is enough drama for one evening. I have work to do. And a life to live. Starting now.
