“I guess we’ll never know, will we?” she said as their eyes met. A long silence hung heavy in the roomuntil she laughed and said, “Hey, how’d we ever get on this subject?” She tried to act busy, but her gaze kept crawling back to his. She knew that something serious had come alive between them, and it wasn’t about to go away. Finally, to try and cover up the awkwardness, she said, “All right, so I’m young. I’m also strong and healthy in case you ain’t noticed.”
