“There, that should help. Now we have to go before…” Theirn stopped as they heard horses coming. “Get down.”
Castien curled up as close to the hedge as possible with Theirn right beside him as they waited with bated breath until the riders passed them. From the sound of it there were at least three of them. As they galloped by someone said, “They can’t be too far ahead.”
The moment they were sure the riders were out of sight, Theirn helped Castien stand and pointed across the field toward a group of trees a few yards away. “We will be safer there, but only if we arethere,” Theirn whispered in exasperation when Castien didn’t move.
“If I can make it there, oh bossy one,” Castien mouthed in reply with a small smile.
“Oh. Yes, well…” Theirn slipped one arm around Castien’s waist.
