The two men gave a curt nod then, satisfied to know that looking out for Jack was a priority for both of them, if for different reasons. The last bit being the most important information for Callum.

The whole interlude lasted but two seconds, it was over before Jack had spoken the last syllable of the name.

Jack never knew the gravity of this moment, only suspected something had happened when Callum took him slow and passionate that night; something he usually did when he felt the need to reclaim his territory. 8

“What’s this?” Jack asked one morning after the mail was delivered. He showed Callum a small, gift wrapped box. It was from Callum’s parents, Jack recognized their handwriting.

Callum’s parents had refused to acknowledge their relationship so far, so Jack thought it was a small sign of their appreciation to at least send them something for the baby shower, if belatedly.
