Chapter 52

“I shit you not.” I finished a particularly intricate part of the mural and moved to another section. “Berger was the last straw, and when I caught him cheating on me, I figured enough was enough, and it was time to call it quits on relationships and get my head on straight. And then I bumped into you, and you were the last thing I ever expected from this town.”

“Is that a good thing?” he asked, and I glanced at him. He seemed nervous.

“It is now. I didn’t expect to connect with anyone here, or make friends, or become involved in a LGBT group, which, by the way, there’s more mackin’ going on some Tuesdays than actual productive discussion.”

“We don’t have a gay bar, so it kind of fills a void, I suppose.”

“Well, someone needs to open a bar of some kind around here. I mean, seriously, someone tried to pinch my ass last week! I think I need to grow back the scruffy face hair. I’ve been hit on more than a whore in a Wild West frontier town.”

“That’s…disturbing.”
