Chapter 32

“Your friends are still down on the beach.” Finn said.

Brody checked over his shoulder, then turned back to Finn, and tugged the hood lower over his forehead.

“If you’re trying to hide who you are, I think the bright yellow board is a giveaway.”

Brody didn’t reply, he squeezed the board tighter to his side. Finn swallowed awkwardly, then tapped the door of his truck.

“If you need a ride to the supermarket, I can do that.”

Brody flashed a final look over his shoulder, then nodded. “Thanks.”

“Don’t forget your board this time though.” Finn said, climbing in.

“I won’t.”

They drove in silence. Brody leaned his elbow on the window frame and propped his head up. He sighed for the tenth time, and Finn itched to ask him what was wrong. He stopped himself though, if Brody wanted to talk, he was there, but he wasn’t going to interrogate him.
