Chapter 17

I swept my gaze over his body and almost whimpered. He wore a pair of motorcycle boots that made his legs look amazing, especially considering I knew what hid beneath his tight jeans. I couldn’t stop staring. Gawd, who would’ve known I was such a leg man?

Finally, I remembered my manners. “Hi.” My greeting was little more than a breathy exhale

“Hey, you.” His smile widened even more, and he gave me a quick peck on the cheek. A hint of stubble—as if he hadn’t shaved since that morning—prickled my skin, making goosebumps erupt along my spine. I shivered, but not because of the chilly wind. My hand flew to my cheek when he withdrew, as though I wanted to keep the feeling of the kiss on my skin and not let it escape.

What was it I’d thought about fireworks just moments ago?

We stood there, eating each other up with our eyes for several moments before I managed to pull myself together enough to invite him in.

“Um, welcome. I’m happy you’re here.”
