Finally, he pulled back, then touched my face. “I…you…” He cleared his throat. “I feel that way about you, too. If that’s love, then…well, I…you know…you. But Liam, I really have no idea what to do with it.”

I laughed. I couldn’t help it. But I cut it off when I saw the panic on his face.

“Hey, it’s okay, baby.” I tried to pull him back in, but he resisted.

“You don’t understand. I don’t have a role model when it comes to good relationships. And even though I want that ‘happily ever after,’ even though I’ve seen it in movies and read it in books, I don’t know how to make it happen. I don’t know how to do this.”

I cupped his face, making sure I had his complete attention. “You’re already doing it. I promise. But don’t worry. We’ll figure it out together.”

He blinked, then sighed. “You promise?”
