John stared, memorizing every detail of the other man’s sleeping face, trying to impress it in his mind forever. He kept staring until Benjamin’s little body movements hinted he was waking up.
Only then did he close his eyes, pretending to sleep. He heard Benjamin getting out of bed, dressing, and leaving the room without a word.
And, then, when he was alone, John silently cried. 8
When Benjamin left the naval armament depot, the sun was at its zenith. He had just dismissed his cadets, giving them the day’s messages, and was in a good mood. With his felucca under his arm, he headed for the Westin. He had come to a decision and wanted to share it with John, and he wouldn’t brook any argument from him. Whether John wanted to or not, Benjamin was going to drag him out of his room and take him back to the Sunrise. John would be at his side, forever.
