When the island volcano erupts and buries neighborhoods, life gets very exciting for helicopter tour pilot, Keoni. His home is threatened by rapidly spreading lava, so he’s staying with his lifelong friend Steve. Keoni has never felt any chemistry between them before, but his feelings for Steve change as things turn deadly even in supposedly safe areas.<br><br>Keoni carries newsmen, cameramen, officials, politicians, and performs rescues on flight after flight. As his home is destroyed and more neighborhoods crumble, his emotions run high, and his feelings for Steve grow. But he screws things up between them as he leaves for his last flight of the day, maybe of his life. Could things get any worse?

“He’s saying he needs help evacuating. Damn lucky my cousin is deaf so I can read lips,” said the photographer.


My estimation of him went up. He was actually useful, not to mention must have had a really great camera. I radioed in to have the National Guard check out this location. Maybe I’d finally get to meet this guy later today.


That didn’t happen. When I got these two reporters back to base, M told us excitedly that the National Guard had gone in and found an elderly couple in the house, one of whom had recently broken his leg while hiking, and the other who was having breathing issues. They were able to take the couple and their small dog to a safe place.


Later, on the news, I watched my two on television.


“Of course, they hadn’t evacuated earlier when they should have. They’re locals: stubborn and independent. These people are a strong race, proud of their…”
