“The other spirit,” he whispered at Endymion before turning toward Darwin. “It’s here.”
He was irritated when Darwin scooted even closer to him, but his partner gave him a sheepish smile. “I can’t see it.”
“Gee, thanks. I’m not your human shield, asshole.”
Darwin pouted. “But your eyes can—”
“That’s even worse. At least you don’t have to worry about that.”
“Hush!” Endymion exclaimed before tugging them closer. “Just stick close to me. I can’t believe this. Why are you both terrified all of a sudden?”
Darwin shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe it’s this place. Or it probably has to do with the cold wind earlier. It makes this building feels even more sinister than before.”
“I agree with Darwin.”
Endymion snorted. “For fuck’s sake! Shut your trap. K, keep a lookout for me, please.”
“Do I have a choice?”
