The wall and fences surrounding most of the acreage made for a superior blockade, and a substantial gate secured the drive. A chapel and a small cemetery existed on the premises, though they cleared the graveyard owing to dead bodies making people nervous, which made sense. More surprising was that much of the once-sacred ground was now used as an extended car park. They utilised the house of worship as a hospital; at least a better fit.

The thought brought a wry twist to Mason’s lips. He dragged his mind back to the catalogue of the superb reasons to stay—a mental check list ticked.
