They headed out quietly and went north. After about ten minutes, they found a fir tree of the right size and shape. Travis picked up the ax and prepared to swing.
“Hey, wait.” Winston took the ax. “You’ve never used an ax before, have you?”
Travis tilted his head back and let out a crooked smile. “It’s that obvious?”
Winston chuckled and had the tree down in short order. They inspected for insects and hauled it home. Travis went to the new garage, part of the house, and dragged out Christmas balls and decorations. After another forty-five minutes, they had the tree decorated, including with lights. They stood back and admired their work.
“To save electricity, we’ll only plug it in for a few minutes later.”
Travis nodded. They rested on the couch as the others woke and came into the main living area
Angela whistled like a man. “Woo-hee. That’s an awesome tree. Thanks, Santa.”
Joy hugged the guys. “Merry Christmas.”
