Chapter 212

Andy patted Jason’s brick-like arm. “Mac-and-cheese is reheatable, though, and it looks like this is going to be a big hit. You make a huge batch once a week and we’ll just heat ‘n’ serve from there. Maybe only for the summer or something, if you really hate it.”

“I don’t hate it,” Jason grumbled. “But it was for Billie. That’s Billie’s mac. It wasn’t meant for…everyone.” He filled his boiler with water again and set it to heat. Jason had very particular feelings about cooking and love.

“So we’ll name it after her on the menu,” Andy soothed, touched that Jason was thinking of Billie like family already. “Billie’s Mac. Meh, too hard to say. Billie-mac.”

Jason was already melting down butter with bacon fat. “Sure, that’ll be sweet. Tell the boss and the wench it’ll be about twelve minutes on that order.”

“I will tell them,” Andy agreed. “I will nottell your wife you’re calling her a wench, though. You want to get in trouble with her again, do it on your own time.”
