He wished there was another solution, but he was convinced they’d come up with one, as long as they were together. Maybe they could buy a vacation home? Somewhere far from cars and people, where he could teach Mick how to stargaze like a real country boy?

One thing was certain: he could see himself spending the rest of his life with Mick.

After Elliot got back, they’d become so much closer than before. They’d spent entire nights talking and laughing, making Elliot feel like an ass the next day when Mick stumbled out of bed, looking like a zombie. But Mick assured him it was worth it.

It was during one of those nightly sessions Elliot had told Mick about the knife incident at the Spring Food Fair.

“Have you thought about talking to someone about it?” Mick asked when Elliot finished recounting the story.

“I’m talking to you, aren’t I?” Elliot smirked.

“Cute. Very cute.”

“I thought so.”

“Seriously, though.”
