Chapter 8

Devin stripped off his T-shirt after he got into his car, used it to wipe as much sweat from his face and torso as he could, then put on the button-down he’d brought with him. After he changed his shoes and ran a hand through his short brown hair in hopes it would behave for once, he took off. He didn’t know which club he’d end up at, he just knew he would.

When he got to the heart of the city he drove slowly through the district that held most of the gay clubs and businesses. Since it was Friday night there were of course no open parking spots on the street. That pretty much meant he’d have to use one of the clubs’ parking lots.

He veered left into the first one he saw, found a space and parked. As he headed from the car back to the sidewalk he saw a familiar figure striding down the street and called out to him.

“Well speak of the devil.” Vanni smiled as he came over.

Devin cocked an eyebrow. “Why am I the devil?”
