A cannibalistic serial killer targeting gay men is on the loose. Devin, who has become increasingly erratic in the last two months, just split up with Gary, his lover of three years. Vanni, a habitué of the gay clubs, makes extra spending money on his knees in the club johns. Is one of these men the killer? Or will one of them instead become the killer’s next target? The Beast Within

Vanni looked at Gary in shock. “When did he take up mindreading?”


“Hell if I know but I gather he’s right.”


“For God’s sake, guys, it’s so obvious and it wasn’t mindreading.” Devin waited a beat. “It was a lucky guess but I was right. Right?”


With a laugh Vanni admitted, “Yeah, you were right. And that, my friend, is all you’re getting out of me.”


“Yeah, Gary, that’s the plan, as often as possible given his job.”


Vanni kept a straight face as he shot him a look. “You did not just ask such an obvious question.”


Devin thought about it for a second then chuckled. “I did, and you know exactly what I meant—on the job.”


“I knew, and I doubt it. That was a one-time thing and, honestly, once was more than enough. I don’t think I’m cop material. Accounting suits me just fine.”
