Chapter 24

He confused Gabe a little. He had a low, melting voice that sounded a little foreign. It had a rough edge to it, as if he might be suppressing an accent in his attempt to keep his true self hidden. Gabe was just guessing, but like his sleight of hand, he wouldn’t be surprised if he used it to throw potential gambling partners off balance.

Having a mixed up bag of blood types, he was clearly a mutt, he had to be. It showed up in everything about Deuce. Mostly in the rasp of his voice when they were making love. He’d only realized lately that as long as he had known Deuce, he’d been putting on a show.

When would he show his true self?

“You fascinate me,” Gabe said as he pushed him around the corner and began pulling at his clothes while he stood motionless.

“Hold on,” Deuce said, but Gabe didn’t stop.
