Chapter 21

“This isn’t about him and what he will do. This man has wandered, looking for you like a lost dog. This is about you, David. This about whether you can forgive him enough to take a chance.”

“I don’t know the answer to that yet.”

“So then I think it’s time you found out. When you go to dinner tonight, can you take the lemons I left on the table? I promised your friend I would send him some, plus you don’t want to go empty handed.”

“Okay,” David said. “All of them?”

“Oh, yes. All of them,” Marisol said.

A few hours later, when David was exiting the shower, he heard something knocking around on the porch. He threw on a robe and ran to the balcony door. Outside, the wind was howling and the bumping continued. Locating the source of the noise, he walked across the balcony and picked it up.

“What the hell? I thought I brought you in last time I was here,” David mumbled, picking up the dark blue metal telescope and carrying it inside. 7
