I had a little bit better luck talking to some of my friends in Canada. They were all willing to help, though several said they weren’t sure what they would be able to do. But my friend Roy, who lived on the northern shore of Lake Ontario, and who I visited often, readily agreed to sponsor Amir’s invitation to Canada.

“But Roy,” I said, “they are going to ask you how you know Amir. What will you tell them?”

“I will tell them that you introduced him to me.”

“But where?”

“On the internet. I’m on several gay websites. The next time you visit, Skype Amir while you are here, introduce him to me, and then when I say I met him on the internet it won’t be a lie, will it?”
