“Hardly,” he replied.
“Well, I suppose it’s hard for me to be subtle, what with my sheer effervescence as a human being.”
He chuckled. “So you’re full of bubbles, you’re saying?”
“Funny.” I got out of bed. “Come on, let’s clean up and eat, then do some more research.” I held out my hand and he took it as he rose off the bed.
“I appreciate what you’re doing for me, Felix. I hope you know that.”
I lifted his hand to kiss the knuckles. “I do,” I replied.
A little while later, we were both in the kitchen, the Thursday afternoon sun shedding lots of light in the room. My condo was located in one of the corners of the building, so I had light coming in from two angles.
“Fajitas work for you?” Before going over to the penthouse for the sting, I’d stocked up a little on groceries for when I returned, and had kept the meat frozen.
“Sure,” he replied.
“It’ll take a while to defrost, but we can do salami sandwiches right now, if that’s okay.”
