Chapter 10

“Heard he went to a bar over in Two Forks last year. Sammy says Bobbie Jo’s cousin’s brother saw him leave with another man.”

Skepticism came to the forefront. “How accurate is she?”

Mary tilted her head and looked up as if counting. “Well, Sammy was right about Dickie Sullivan catching frogs and licking them to see if they were those drug inducing mucus emitting kind. The names were meaningless to Donovan. Yet, just the same, his heart skipped a beat. He stilled and waited for more. When it didn’t come, he couldn’t help but ask. “Dr. Wood likes men?”

Mary shrugged. “None of my business if he likes men, women, or cross-eyed sheep. Where he makes his bed or hides his sausage don’t make no matter, either.”

He chuckled. The things the woman said both astounded and amused him.
