Chapter 27

“Shocked. Decided my teacher was delusional.” He paused. “They pretty much ignore that little tidbit. Like if they don’t say the word or think about it, then it’s not real.”

“Damn selfish of them.”

“I don’t know. Could have been worse. They didn’t kick me to the street or donate me to science.”

TJ shook his head at Donovan’s amused tone. He would have been pissed. Donovan, on the other hand, seemed to take it all in stride and moved onward. No harm, no foul. Either his happy-go-lucky attitude was a blessing or a curse, TJ wasn’t sure which. “I guess that’s something.”

“Really, it wasn’t so bad. Mrs. Jenkins kept up with me, offered up advice. On the sly, of course. My mother is an interior designer and quite the lady of status. She’s always throwing parties for her uptown clients. Father runs a furniture company. They aren’t millionaires, but they sure like other people to believe they are.”

“All about prominence. Not my cup of tea.”
