Chapter 31

“Yashiv?”

He turned his head. “Yes, Master?”

“I’m going to the soldier camp. You can meet me there.” 12

Yashiv left directions with Omri to gather a team of guards for Wen. He informed Omri that all should be women, which would make the child feel more comfortable. Omri rushed off to fill that task. Maarav, back from relaying his own messages, stayed to guard Master’s door.

Many of the house’s workers called out to Yashiv as he passed by the kitchens. Nenet, of course, inquired if he ate enough for breakfast. He replied absently to all their questions and their prying, his mind focused on Cassian. Things between them were bound to be complicated now. They’d crossed the line that Yashiv swore he’d never even get near. Somehow, Cassian’s need had made Yashiv surrender his fight. There was no going back from it.
