“No,” Srahuni answered anyway, though he glanced away from Selati as he said it.

“Your Tahahi is a Foreseen.” Aleledai said.

Selati almost dropped his meal, startled. He hadn’t expected Aleledai to talk just yet. The word though, the way Aleledai spoke it in the same way he said Khladi’s name with reverence, had his complete attention. “What is a Foreseen?”

Aleledai’s eyes narrowed on the distant horizon, contemplative. “They can see beyond now. The days after this one.”

There was a word he had heard from the humans guarding their mine, one time. A male talked of days past the one at the moment, called it future. Selati had no use for the word, before. It had use now. “The future, you mean?”

“I think so,” Aleledai answered. “Humans didn’t give us much in the way of language at the Lake. I learned many more words and meanings once I was rescued. I still don’t understand or know all of them.”

“What did Tahahi say?” Selati asked.
