“We should keep him occupied, so he doesn’t become a stone.” Scales shushed across the dirt floor as Tahahi talked. Selati looked to his friends again, happy they were happy, though relieved they were no longer being physically affectionate.

“How?” There was a faint scowl around the edges of Bunici’s pale eyes that didn’t make it to his mouth.

“From what I understand, family keeps each other informed about their lives,” Tahahi said. He turned to Selati and smiled, something new tucked underneath the expression. “Like the fact that we’ve married.”

“Married?” It was a significant thing, Selati figured out from the heavy weight Tahahi put behind the word. There was a blank though, when he tried to remember if he had heard it before. “I have no knowledge of it. And when did you do this?”
