The next day he’d acted as if nothing had happened, with Mason making plans for the two of them to go hiking and camping. And what about the trip? Noah also needed to think about it. Was them going off alone a wise idea? It’d definitely take Mason’s mind off all the shit at work, but them alone, for days, and nights, after what happened the night before, might prove a problem. Maybe Noah should tell Mason something came up, and he needed to go home or back to Baltimore to catch another ship.

The sun’s position told Noah the time had come for him to head back to Mason’s. Unfortunately, he was no closer to figuring things out. Noah’s stomach sank the closer he moved toward Mason’s.
